Jose Dynamite first attempted stand up comedy at a talent showcase in 1999 while in college. He took another brief crack at it in 2002 when the Laugh Factory opened its doors in Honolulu. Just a couple of years later, he decided to really make an effort, and began to pursue his dream of being a stand up comedian: he hasn’t looked back since. And in 2004, Jose Dynamite was given the opportunity of a lifetime, where he gained most of his comedy knowledge and experience: working as the opening act and occasionally as a promoter for Augie T., for nearly 9 years. Within that time, he toured throughout the Hawaiian Islands, the west coast, and internationally in Guam and Saipan. He has opened for several big name artists, including Jim Gaffigan, Bill Burr, Eddie Griffin, The Beach Boys, and much more. Now he currently produces two weekly comedy shows, Comedy U Wednesday’s at Anna O’Brien’s and the longest running Friday Night Comedy Show in Chinatown: Jose Dynamite & Friends at O’Toole’s, where he’s given the opportunity for several up and coming comedians the chance to perform on a regular basis, proving that Jose Dynamite is a major contributor to Hawaii’s recent boom in the stand-up comedy scene. His album “Something Smells Funny” is a culmination of years of hard work creating original material, with subject matter ranging from racism, relationships with his local girlfriend, experiences as a parent and grandparent, religion, and much more.
