010 - Pick Good Partners
Manage episode 309561639 series 2995526
“Inspiring others to help others is my strategic plan for changing this crazy world. It all adds up… 1+1+1 = change”. - Johnnie Williams III
This quote was created to remind us all that change will require we add up all of our efforts to equate to a necessary shift. Because we are the problem that needs solving...and we are the solution for solving the (present) problem.
The theme and quote are an interesting combination about relational collaborations and change. As we could not pick our parental partners, nor our family partners neither, so picking good partners should go without saying. But here I am saying it!
Think about the type of PEOPLE you need around you - because:
People
Empower
Or
People
Limit
Each Other
So, it's time that you DEFINE what does a better world look like to you. Start by REFINING the things you say or do to improve the world, helping to make it better. But, you must ALIGN with a tribe of people that have a similar vision as you, and RESIGN from any dysfunctional partnerships that'll keep you from growing and moving forward.
Watch out for the human parasites who:
1) invade upon your time -
2) draw upon your resources - and -
3) determine or dictate your behavior.
I would never pick a team of people to help me lose on the basketball court. But when lacking awareness in past — I am guilty of leaving the door to my inner circle unlocked. I proceeded into partnerships unguarded, thinking that I could ENCOURAGE the best out of anyone and that has proven to be wrong and has taken much time and patience to get things back right.
I never stopped to ask mySELF:
Who am I (really) looking for and why am I looking for them?
How will they make it onto my team and what will they contribute as a teammate?
When (and why) will I remove them from my team?
I am forever an optimist that remains rooted in reality and grounded by the gravity of what is… But I think in order for the people to see a better world, we must partner with one another and work at it and on it together.
