First, Gen Z came for our skinny jeans. Now they’re here for our leggings, too? Gen Z style gurus have once again ganged up on the rest of the world, decreeing those roll-on thigh-huggers just one more “cheugy” (or, outdated) thing from the Victoria’s Secret sale at the mall, waiting to be turfed from your closet. Fortunately, aging fashionistas, our benevolent dictators have something new, all picked out, that they’re sure we’re going to love — yoga pants. To Gen Z, they’re “flared leggings.”

In the headlines on #TheUpdate this Tuesday, lawmakers in a suburban New York county have approved a bill to ban masks in public places with exemptions for people who cover their faces for health reasons or religious or cultural purposes. We’re barking up the wrong trees. A new study reveals that a majority of the 7 million trees in New York City are emitting “volatile compounds” that do more harm than good for our air quality — especially during scorching heat. And in Decision 2024, Vice President Kamala Harris officially secured the Democratic presidential nomination on Monday night as she received votes from 99% of the Democratic National Committee delegates.
