The Most Evil Serial Killer - Leonard Lake & Charles Ng [Serial Killer Documentary]
Serial killers Charles Ng and Leonard Lake teamed up in the early to mid-80s, ensconced in the lovely rolling foothills of the Sierra Nevada in Mark Twain's famed Calaveras County, California, to perform some of the most horrible murders imaginable, rapping and torturing their victims before putting them out of their agony.
The actual number of victims is unknown, although it is estimated to be as high as 25 — including babies. Indeed, when it came to picking their victims, Ng and Lake didn't discriminate; they took whomever they could get their hands on.
Charles Ng was born to rich parents in Hong Kong, but his father was an aggressive disciplinarian during Ng's childhood. He had been expelled from many schools by the time he was a teenager, was an introspective loner, and had been arrested for shoplifting, a never-ending habit that would, thankfully, lead to his demise. His father then moved him to an English boarding school, where he was swiftly expelled for stealing from his friends. He stayed in Hong Kong till he turned eighteen. In 1978, he landed in the United States on a student visa and attended one semester of college before dropping out. Ng met Leonard Lake not long after, when he responded to an advertisement Lake had placed in a survivalist magazine. Their common nefariousness forged an instant bond.
Leonard Lake, like Ng, had an unusual childhood, having been raised by his grandmother with his brothers after his parents divorced. Ng was caught shoplifting in a South San Francisco hardware store on June 2, 1985. Lake, who was in the car with him, was stopped outside the store and arrested. Lake committed suicide shortly after his arrest. Ng was convicted guilty of 11 murders by a jury on February 11, 1999. He was given a fatal injection sentence. Since 2006, however, there have been no executions in the state of California. As a result, Charles Ng is still on death row at San Quentin State Prison, where he will most likely die of natural causes.
