For centuries, members of the B’doul Bedouin tribe lived in the caves around the ancient city of Petra, Jordan. Then, in the 1980s, the government forced the tribe to move in the name of preserving the geological site for tourists. But if the residents are forced to leave, and if their heritage has been permanently changed, then what exactly is being preserved? Cloud vendor announces new instance types every month, and the content of the announcement is always the same: "The new instance is faster, shinier and cheaper than the previous one."
But is it true? And what about other instances in the same generation but with different CPU vendors? Anthony tests it all. He checks every new instance appearing in one of the 200 (yes, that is two hundred) cloud vendors he follows and shares the data on Cloud Mercato.
In this episode, Stephen and I have discovered many new things, smashed some assumptions and enjoyed the power of data.
