In this episode, I'm talking with Jeff Dunn, an insurance broker with Spencer Hayes Group with over 40 years working in the insurance industry.

Now I know what you might be saying. Insurance is not exactly the most exciting of industries and I'm not sure I want to hear someone drone on about commercial risk and actuarial calculations.

The truth of the matter is that insurance is actually all about people – or at least it is when it comes to Jeff's process.

Jeff explains how he takes a different approach to the standard insurance broker by actually getting to know the business and the people that work there, rather than just trying to beat their previous premium. This enables him to find a solution that properly fits the client.

We get to find out:

- how Jeff got into insurance the first place, straight after leaving school;

- how his upbringing helped him develop the mental toughness to bounce back from serial redundancies, sometimes within a few hours: and

- his plans for the future, which include continuing what he does whilst living abroad.

At the heart of it all is a person who has a passion for people and actually enjoys his job. Not something that many people can say.
