I have a treat for you! I have spent one year writing these e-books and want to share them with you!

*** My e-book (kindle version on Amazon), " Emotional Intelligence: A Tool Kit for Managing Diversity, Equity & Inclusion & Know Yourself To Know Your Employees, has been released." - you will access some excellent information that everyone can use. You will be guided through some relatable, real-life scenarios. Screen-shot your 5-star review and send it to rachelle@rachellecarrie.com to receive your gift. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As a black woman, I have often been praised for being a "strong black woman." This cultural trope has been perpetuated in media and popular culture, portraying black women as resilient and unbreakable. However, as much as it is a compliment, it has become a burden. The expectation to be strong at all times can be exhausting and detrimental to our mental health. In this article, I will explore the myths surrounding the "strong black woman" archetype, the burden it creates, and ways to overcome societal expectations.

Lisa Hurley is an Anthem Award-winning activist, speaker, and writer whose work focuses on racism, neurodiversity, and destigmatizing introversion.

Ms. Hurley is the Co-Founder and Co-Host of The Introvert Sisters Podcast, the Host of Real Talk on Racism, and a member of the Black Speakers Collection. She has been selected as one of Taplio's 100 Best LinkedIn Influencers and is a Favikon Top 10 LinkedIn Creator in Inclusion and Diversity worldwide.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sharon Hurley Hall is on a mission to fight racism and to help lead the way to equality. She is the Co-Founder of Diverse Leaders Group. It's a brand-new startup that aims to create equality through leadership support and development, community action, and education. Her role is to make sure we live up to our anti-racism commitments. She also co-leads her Anti-Racist Leaders Association, which supports people stepping up to take the lead in anti-racism. At DLG, they are doing everything differently.

Today the sisters will share what it means to: "Not Be Your Strong Black Woman."

EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS:

  1. Promotions where people did not look like her (Sharon Hurley)
  2. Expectations to work twice as hard, suppress emotions, resist being vulnerable & obligation to help others
  3. As Blacks we were considered 3/5ths human
  4. Historical trauma (Strong Black Women Syndrome)
  5. Divest yourself (need the energy for creativity)
  6. List of things that have to be done and that you love doing

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I aim to highlight lived experiences and inspirational stories of strength and tenacity. This is where we share profound and courageous dialogues that influence diversity, equity, and inclusion by breaking the barriers and labels of stereotypes, confronting biases, and offering best practices to achieve a more significant cultural mindset. We will share some actionable tips from the best trailblazers!

Join us as we break through some glass ceilings and disrupt how we. think about DEI.
