Fruitbowl: An Oral History of Queer Sex

Deaunte grew up on the “souf” end of Seattle and lives just a few minutes away from Rainer Beach High School where he graduated high school. But between now and then he’s lived in Florida, Philly and Washington DC where, for the first time, he regularly met black gay doctors, politicians and, most importantly, activists. Since learning of his HIV positive status and surviving a meth addiction, Deaunte has committed giving back to his community by being honest about his journey. This openness doesn’t always translate into easy relationships but Deaunte is committed to living his truth.

FRUITBOWL is produced independently without financial sponsors, advertising revenue or corporate media support. Every interview is recorded in-person, on location in each interviewee’s home and production expenses including travel, accommodations, equipment rental, editing and post-production are paid for out of pocket by Dave Quantic, FRUITBOWL’s creator.
