A Civil War-era western _ DOKI-DOKI FILMS THE RETRIEVAL: SXSW AWARD-WINNER BY CHRIS ESKA (DIRECTOR) SXSW Winner ‘The Retrieval’ Gets US Distribution! Variance Films has acquired U.S. distribution for Civil War drama “The Retrieval,” which won a grand jury acting prize for Tishuan Scott at South by Southwest. Producers are Jacob Esquivel and Jason Wehling, and executive producers are Alan Berg (Arts + Labor), Tom Borders (Sixth Street Films), and Sibyl Avery Jackson.

Chris Eska directed from his own script with the story set in 1864, near the end of the Civil War. A Civil War-era western about a fatherless boy sent to retrieve a wanted man under false pretense, and the unexpected emotional bonds that form during their journey.

The cast & director were invited to the SAG Foundation Conversation Series.
