In this episode we are joined by Mark and Raghu from the Mt Diablo Challenge. They are two key principles in putting on this event along with more than 150 volunteers. This is the 40th installment of this Northern California Bay Area Classic event and will take place October 1st. If you have never climbed Mount Diablo by bike it is truly a tough challenge but a very rewarding one. The climb itself is 11.2 Miles and climbs a total of 3249 feet. It's a tall order for a recreational rider and a great challenge for the most experienced rider. Some will race but most will just ride, additionally there is a great BBQ after the ride where they will dish out some prizes and there will be live music. The great thing about the Mountain Challenge is the road is closed to the public so the only cars on the road will be those in support of the event. It's the best way to ride the mountain! Proceeds from the event go to Save Mount Diablo and the Diablo turnouts project.
