All three books of the Transformation Trilogy by author David Moyer are now available. These include Too Good to be True? Nutrients Quiet the Unquiet Brain, 10 Ways to Keep your Brain from Screaming “Ouch!” and Beyond Mental Illness. Moyer has provided clinical social work services and consultation at the federal, state and county levels. Too Good to be True? Nutrients Quiet the Unquiet Brain, published in 2003, is a medical memoir/detective story. In the course of a four-generation bipolar odyssey involving his great aunt, his grandmother, his father and his son, he learns that bipolar disorder can result from nutritional imbalances as well as infections. He discusses effective treatment methods that relieve symptoms in some patients. He begins to question the usefulness of the bipolar disorder diagnosis, then the entire range of mental disorders. Moyer’s new book, 10 Ways to Keep your Brain from Screaming “Ouch!” contains useful perspectives and interventions frequently overlooked in mainstream psychiatry. Moyer invites clients and their healthcare providers to consider these innovative solutions. In Beyond Mental Illness, Moyer examines the scientific evidence supporting the need to move beyond the labels of “mental disorders” toward individualized biomedical assessment and treatment. It is written for professionals, family members and clients interested in better understanding multiple factors that play a role in these syndromes. Moyer predicts that in the future, mental disorders will to be redefined as syndromes. Clinicians will treat the biological bases of these syndromes. Portions of the book are technical. As the book’s subtitle reads, “Transform a label. Transform a life.”
