I take a food-based approach to all my nutrition advice, and we are ‘food first’ nutrition professionals at The Healthy Eating Clinic and The Healthy Eating Hub. This means that we always help people address their nutritional needs by improving their habits, skills, and behaviours around food to subsequently improve their long-term dietary intake. This is our priority.
However, there are several circumstances when supplementation is necessary to help maximise the health of the individual: gut disorders, allergies to multiple food groups, deficiencies due to non-dietary factors such as iron or vitamin D deficiency and a bunch more that are highly based on the individual.
