Manage episode 344406891 series 3358405
Alissa shares her first birth story of her son, born in November 2019. Her partner and her decided to stop taking any precautions after their May 2018 wedding. She believed she would come home with a honeymoon baby, but that did not happen. Being the planner she is, she quickly turned to tracking her cycle with 7 months of negative pregnancy tests. She took her concerns to her OBGYN and her OB agreed to run a blood screening and sperm mobility test. She was diagnosed with PCOS and her partner had few head sperm, which gave them a 2% chance of conceiving naturally. They decided to move right onto IVF with a successful first transfer. Around 35 weeks pregnant, Alissa woke up with her left leg swollen to the size of a “Frankenstein Leg” and had Deep Vein Thrombosis. Between the DVT and a breech baby, she was given a c-section date at 39 weeks. She had to deliver in a normal Operating Room over an OB Operating Room and the team did not allow her husband in the room. She struggled with postpartum anxiety and credits that mostly to issues with breastfeed that led to pumping and decreased sleep. This is Part 1 of 2.
