I’ve always felt that men are under represented in the bariatric surgery world. The stats for surgery skew heavily towards women even though there are equal rates of obesity among American men and women. Of the surgeries performed about 80% are women and 20% or less are men. Why is that? Stigma? Bullying? Are men not as aware of their health issues? Lack of support?
