Susan is an educator, speaker, writer, and consultant, and the founder of The Cotten Method; an OCS method for dental practitioners. Susan Cotten BSDH, RDH, OMT, is the founder and CEO of Oral Cancer Consulting, and a passionate speaker, author, trainer, and oral cancer coach. Susan developed the “Cotten MethodTM” a dental practice office system and screening method designed for dental providers, teams, DSOs, who want more confidence in screening, reduce their risk of liability, and increase early detection.

Susan is the Dental Workgroup Lead for the Alliance for HPV Free Colorado, Oral Cancer Screening Coordinator for Colorado Mission of Mercy, and an RDH Advisory Board Member and Regional Coordinator for the Oral Cancer Foundation/OCF and in 2011 Susan was awarded volunteer of the year from OCF. Susan is the 2020 recipient of the Colorado Dental Hygiene Association/CODHA Ethel Covington award and a 2018 recipient of the Sunstar/RDH Award of Distinction and Outstanding Contribution award from CODHA. In her 28 years as a dental hygienist, Susan has worked in private practice, in public health in medical-dental integration as an Integrative Dental Hygienist and completed advanced course work in Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy. She has organized countless free oral cancer screening events and volunteered with a Head and Neck surgeon providing free head and neck, oral, and oropharyngeal screenings for the homeless. On a personal note, Susan enjoys watching college football, visiting the beautiful Hawaiian Islands, and is a former couples country dance competitor.
