Those of us living with diabetes often feel this added pressure to exercise. It's certainly no secret that we experience many benefits blood sugar wise, as well as for our general well-being with its incorporation, BUT what are we to do when our history with exercise has been a tumultuous one, or it feels so intertwined with our past dieting/weight loss efforts? Enter special guest Kim Hagle.
Kim Hagle is a mom of four, Personal Trainer, Registered Holistic Nutritionist and founder of Radiant Vitality Wellness. Kim hosts The Joyful Movement Show podcast and through her signature program Right Body for Me, she helps women discover joyful movement, intuitive eating and motivation that lasts so they can heal their relationship to exercise and feel confident in their own skin.
On today's episode, Kim and I sit down to chat about how to begin changing our relationship with movement, and highlights some important questions to ask ourselves as we do. Kim also shares some first steps to take in pursuing movement that can bring us joy, without needed conditions (i.e. weight, blood sugars etc.)
On this episode you will learn:
- Kim's journey from being the kid who was picked last on every sports team, to now being a non-diet fitness coach
- Why terminology is so important - exercise versus movement
- Who are the gym police
- How to begin dismantling your own 'no pain no gain' exercise mentality
- The role of mindset in empowering our movement choices
- How to avoid the 'on again off again' exercise cycle
