In this podcast episode, we discuss a surprising tip to help you sleep better, manage your blood sugar, and support those with Hashimoto's hypothyroidism. Key points: If you wake up during the night, try eating something high in protein and fat like nut butter, almonds, a hard-boiled egg, or lean meat. Your brain needs fuel during sleep, but low blood sugar can disrupt this process, leading to sleep disturbances. People with Hashimoto's hypothyroidism often experience low blood sugar and can benefit from managing their blood sugar levels. Tips for better sleep and blood sugar management: Always eat breakfast, even if you don't feel like it. Eat frequently throughout the day to avoid blood sugar crashes. Adopt a lower carbohydrate diet and avoid sugary, high carbohydrate breakfast foods. Eat enough protein and healthy fats to sustain your energy. Avoid stimulants like caffeine, especially in the afternoon, and minimize alcohol consumption.
